If you've ever heard the phrase "finding the man in the boat," you know it’s been a punchline for decades. But under the jokes lies a deep misunderstanding of the clitoris—and it's time we got it right.
In this juicy, eye-opening episode of What Excites Us!, host and certified sex coach Gwyn Isaacs takes us on a tour of the Clitardis: the mighty, misunderstood, and mysteriously internal clitoris. We explore its true shape (spoiler: it’s way bigger than we were taught), its vast and varied sensation potential, and how it responds uniquely to different kinds of touch. Every. Single. One.
We unpack common myths (nope, science hasn’t really confirmed that 8,000 nerve endings claim) and explore why most so-called vaginal orgasms are actually clitoral in nature (take that, Freud). Gwyn breaks down anatomy in a way that's smart, funny, and super accessible—even for those who haven’t cracked a sex-ed book since high school.
Plus, there’s discussion about how testosterone affects the clitoris in trans folks, what to know about changes during menopause, how pleasure changes over time, and why you really should talk to your partner(s) about what feels good. Like, often. Like—every time.
Whether you're learning something new, validating your own experience, or just here for the phrase "Brontosaurus wearing a scarf," this episode has something for you.
TLDR: All clits are different. You have to ask. And yes, it really is bigger on the inside.

This show is the first in our series of Tell-All episodes, where we get the salacious details about someone's personal sex life. In this one, E shares about how all her polyamorous, kinky, dreams seem to be coming true. She tells us about her non-traditional family and home life, the ways things are changing and even her favorite piece of furniture and why it’s called a slave desk.
If you would like to do a tell-all episode with me, or have other things to share that may be helpful to others, please get in touch. An easy way to do that is to go to the website, whatexcitesus.com, and click the Start Recording button. You will have several minutes to pitch a story, or respond to the question of the week. I would love for you to be a part of the conversation by asking a question, leaving a comment, or telling a story to air. This can all be done anonymously, but of course if you want to do an episode I do need to be able to get back to you. Of course you could also send me an email at gwyn@earthlydesire.com.

Welcome to the very first episode of What Excites Us, a show about sex, sexuality, and all the deliciously complicated ways humans experience desire. I’m your host, Gwyn Isaacs—certified intimacy coach, pleasure educator, lifelong kink-curious nerd, and former confused human who thought something was “wrong” with her sexually… until she realized it absolutely wasn’t.
This episode sets the tone for everything this podcast is going to be: curious, shame-free, conversational, a little nerdy, and very real. I share why I created this show, why the word normal needs to be tossed in the trash, and how consent—not morality—sets the line between okay and not okay. We also kick off our first Question of the Week, hear from real humans answering “How do you define sex?”, and dig into why the definition matters way more than most of us were ever taught.
You’ll hear about:
Why “almost everything” is okay… and what the one hard line actually is
How expanding the definition of sex can transform pleasure, relationships, and even conversations about cheating
The cultural shame most of us grew up with (and why none of it’s your fault)
Why “vanilla” is not an insult (and why basics are sexy as hell)
One simple thing you can do today to have better sex with your partner
How to send in your questions, stories, confessions, or curiosity for future episodes
Plus: a quick ad break from our sex-positive podcast cousin, Good Girls Talk About Sex, and a listener question about whether sex is actually good for your body (spoiler: yes, science says it is).
If you’ve ever wondered “Am I normal?” — this show exists so you can finally exhale and say, “Oh… I’m not alone.”
